Towel Game

Towel Game is a live social game of improbable encounter, wayfinding, and small-group conversation.

This rhythm is what gives the game its shape. It moves between uncertainty and structure, between local companionship and wider circulation.

# The Point of the Game

The result of the Towel Game is not only the live experience of walking, talking, and meeting new people. It is also a collective knowledge archive built from all the conversations, together with the topics, presentations, and provocations that frame the gathering.

This archive is integrated into an interactive hypermedia document called a Guide. The Guide is a living hypergraph of participants, questions, recordings, summaries, and connections. It is assembled during the event itself, with Marvin and Deep Thought helping to structure and link the material as it appears.

A Guide does not end when the event ends. Participants can continue the discussion afterward, revisit their own contributions, and watch as those contributions are augmented and connected to material from other people and other gatherings on the same theme. Many events are part of a wider series, so the Guide becomes a bridge between one conversation and the next, inviting people to follow up online or to return in person for future events.

# Design Principle In the Towel Game, entry comes through the Improbability Drive, Identity comes through a card, route comes through a Towel, support comes through the app, and social mixing comes through the Towel Remix Algorithm. The game is a sequence of triads forming, walking, talking, remixing, and setting off again.
